Yoga

I've been practising yoga for many years and have had the chance to follow classes in Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin.

I quickly discovered that my love for yoga (and motivation to go) was in large part due to the studio and teachers. I am blessed to practise yoga at the lovely Aruna Yoga Studio in Maastricht and be guided by some truly amazing (and very knowledgable) teachers ♥.

I never imagined that I might one-day go to 'the other side' but in September 2023, I entered the ashram of Arhanta Yoga in Sinderen (The Netherlands) to follow a 50-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training I must say my week at the Ashram was tough and at one point, I really did think about leaving. It wasn't the new routine, ashram 'rules', nor intensity of the tuition, but - as somewhat of an introvert - I found it hard interact with so many new people all at once. Thankfully a well-timed chat with a kind member of staff - along with messages of support from family and friends - gave me the courage to stay .

Despite being rather quiet in the classroom setting, I 'found my voice' when it came to teaching the 90-minute Yin Yoga [practice] classes. It meant so much to receive positive feedback from 'my students' and I was proud to receive my certificate at the end of the course. My experience at the Arhanta Yoga Ashram was ulimately rewarding and I'm glad I stuck it out.

Fast forward to August 2024 and I received my certificate after following a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Himalaya Yoga Valley  It was an intense yet insightful course and I'm proud to now call myself an RYS Certified Yoga Teacher 200 YTT.

Next step is to continue gaining knowledge about yoga and get experience teaching classes. I guess if it's meant to be, the opportunity will come my way...

Namaste.
